DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong HR Management background as you will transition under the leadership of the current Director of HR. Strong candidates should present a diverse background, with an emphasis on developing and managing performance across an organization.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Personnel: Ensure accurate and timely processing and documentation of all employee information company-wide (e.g., new hires, reviews, leaves/FMLA, terminations, benefit open enrollment) through PayCor. Provide employee and manager training and support for PayCor, company handbook, and benefits (health, 401(k), supplemental prgrams). Provide leadership for wellness initiatives.
  • Talent Acquisition: Administer the talent acquisition process using the Applicant Tracking System (requisitioning, interview documentation, pipeline monitoring, and communication with hiring managers and applicants). Provide manager training and support for ATS. Primary HR (Human Resources) contact for recruiting non-exempt positions.
  • Performance Management: Administer a systematic process of communicating and clarifying job responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and development planning that optimizes individual performance that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Training and Development: Use performance metrics to identify training needs and initiate educational activities that improve the job performance of an individual or group.
  • Benefits: Responsible for managing company benefits including the annual open enrollment process and the ongoing delivery of accurate data to carriers, as well as meeting any regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Employee Engagement: Organize and lead employee engagement initiatives for the Clive office and remote sales, marketing, editorial, and technology teams. Create and administer regular employee “health checks” on company culture, values, and initiatives.
Job Description
Successful candidate will have a proven ability to:
  • HRIS – Improve business and HR processes through HRIS (PayCor) automation including compensation, benefit administration, hiring and onboarding process (including applicant tracking system), and performance management. Drive ongoing improvements, user training, and customization based on specific needs.
  • Performance management and employee engagement – Partner with senior executives, managers, and individual contributors to establish, monitor, and refine performance metrics; improve employee feedback mechanisms; implement coaching best practices; and lead employee engagement initiatives.
  • Talent acquisition and onboarding – Collaborate with management on job descriptions and roles/responsibilities, leverage a wide range of candidate sources, screen for high-potential candidates, ensure an unbiased decision-making process, and enhance onboarding processes (e.g., first week, 30/60/90 goals, regular checkpoints).
  • Learning and Development – Collaborate with company and departmental leaders to foster a continuous learning philosophy across the company linked to company needs and employee development goals.
  • Benefit management – Drive benefits administration (we are a self-insured company) through:
    • Recommending changes to plan design based on a thorough cost/benefit analysis
    • Overseeing benefits enrollment process, administering benefits (including serving as a primary vendor contact), and responding to benefit inquiries through internal and 3rd-party resources meetings (enrollment materials, education sessions, and self-service enrollment portal)
    • Performing monthly reporting (e.g., allocation/billing charges, monthly reconciliations to payroll) and periodic quality checks and compliance reporting.
    • Administering FMLA and ADA requests/issues (including processing leave and disability requests), unemployment claims (including providing proper documentation), and workers compensation claims.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Certification preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in HRIS (Human Resource Information System) systems and benefits administration
  • Ongoing career development through HR related training, HR community memberships, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including MS Teams, and quickly adapts to new digital tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, and written/verbal skills
